Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. I enjoy cooking and the aroma of that fills the house. I love watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and watching football until I’m in a turkey coma. This year will be different because we lost our dog in June of this year and she always made us laugh on Thanksgiving. Once she starting smelling the cooking turkey, she would get so anxious and wouldn’t leave me alone in the kitchen. She was always by my feet. Boy do I miss my precious Belle.
I started cooking Thanksgiving dinner about 16 years ago for my husband and father and since then it has become a tradition for us. I cook the food, hubby helps and dad brings the desserts. I usually cook a 18-20lb turkey each year so we can have left overs for dad to bring home, for hubby to make turkey soup and to have leftovers for a week or so.
Since I was always working a full time job, I was either too tired to cook anything from scratch or just didn’t want to. This year is different. I am no longer working a full time job and I’m going to try a dish from scratch! I’m unsure what it will be yet so I will keep you posted but I feel like I want to explore any possible culinary skills that I “may” have (without killing anyone!). Wish me luck and everyone else!
Here are a few pictures from Thanksgiving of 2018 and 2019.
